Updated Makeup Bag Essentials

It's been a while since I've done an updated what's in my makeup bag. As you know, I am always changing my items around and since it has changed a bit since my last post I thought it was time to do an update. I still use the same BareMinerals pouch, mainly because it is the perfect size for transferring between either a large or small size handbag.

I don't carry around a lot of products with me, just essentials I find I may need on days I need a touch up or haven't applied makeup because I stayed over somewhere without packing anything. I find it so handy having these essentials with me, you just never know when you may need to freshen up your makeup and they're all good travel sizes.

Items inside my makeup bag:
NARS The Multiple - South Beach (Deluxe sized sample)
NARS Pencil SharpenerMAC Extended Play Gigablack Lash Mascara
MAC Pro Longwear Waterproof Brow Set - Brown Ebony
Bobbi Brown Dual Ended Eye Liner - Chocolate and Bronze (Limited edition)
MAC Strobe Cream (Deluxe sized sample)
NARS Sheer Glow Foundation - Light #5 Fiji (Deluxe sized sample)
Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer - SC-3
Toofaced Angled Brush and Spooly

Current lip products inside my bag:
NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Bettina, NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Walkyrie, *Dusty Girls Natural Lipstick in Cacao Shake and Jo Malone Vitamin E Lip Conditioner.
(Swatches L-R) NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil Bettina, NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil Walkyrie and *Dusty Girls Natural Lipstick Cacao Shake.

These are the current lip products I have in my bag. This too, is constantly changing depending on what I am wearing that day. The Jo Malone lip balm is definitely a staple in my handbag, which I carry with me all the time. I've found these three lipsticks are the shades I have been wearing daily, especially the Dusty Girls natural lipstick in Cacao Shake. It is a beautiful terracotta/mahogany shade and feels so lovely on the lips — I am so in love with this lipstick and it has quickly become a favourite of mine. I will be doing a full face makeup review using the Dusty Girls makeup range very soon. I can't wait to show you the beautiful vegan range they have, I love the ingredients and how natural and amazing quality their makeup is.

Let's Catch Up! #2

March is one of my favourite months. Mainly because it is my birthday month and the beginning of autumn. This whole month has been so much fun for me — from having such an amazing birthday to just general well being and happiness. I am forever grateful towards all the people in my life that made my day/s so special. I can't wait to show you the beautiful presents I was spoilt with for my birthday! In today's post I want to recap on my last "Let's Catch Up" post and update you on a few things.

I have many drafted posts lined up that are currently in the works. I'll give you a list of the titles (in no particular order) so you have an idea of what's to come on Amour JNFR. Please let me know if you have any posts you would like me to do. I'm always in need of new ideas.

What I Got For My Birthday
7 Day Lipstick Challenge - Day 3

I mentioned in my previous catch up post that I had gone on a job interview and was potentially about to work for this company — however I decided it wasn't for me. I think I've come to the point in my life where I want a change of scenery and environment. I still want to be within the beauty industry but I want to work in an office environment. More "behind the scenes" type of work. I haven't exactly lost all my passion as a makeup artist — I think it has more to do with my motivation and needing something to drive me further within my career. I want to take the next step and explore new things. I'm constantly immune to change and I love the idea of always experiencing new adventures. At the moment I have a lot of exciting things planned for my career and things in the works. I won't (again) mention too much details at this moment, as we all know things can change and I always like to be certain before I confirm anything on here.

My blog work has been keeping me very busy whilst working with many PR companies as well as building up a stronger platform for my site. I also have a few video ideas in the making, which I am very excited about. I'm not sure if I want to make YouTube a permanent thing for myself, like blogging. However it is something on my mind. I need to keep building up confidence and see how it all pans out. When I created my first video it was so much fun and I was so intrigued by how much I really enjoyed filming and editing it. Thank you so much for everyone's input and love towards my video, your support means a lot to me.

Going back again, to my catch up post where I mentioned about minimalism and decluttering, etc. I have continued looking through all my belongings and sorting a pile of "unwanted" items to gift to my sister. I've been thinking for a long time now of doing a post about "products that didn't work for me, however work for my sister" kind of post — but I am not sure how to execute this just yet (especially the title — haha). Would you be interested in reading about that?

I cannot tell you enough how great it feels to accumulate all my belongings I no longer use, or have ever used (makeup/skincare/accessories) and gifting it to my sister. Of course, she is always over the moon when I come over her house baring a basket full of gifts. It makes me surprised each time seeing how much my sister uses and puts those products to better use. I honestly remember gifting her a foundation and by the end of the week she had already used half of the bottle. I don't know how she does it — I do know she wears a lot heavier coverage than I do. I never finish a product. It's very rare for me to have a pile of used up products. I like to rotate my makeup/skincare quite often so therefore it never ends up being finished. Which to me is a bad habit of mine — that's why I started writing a post on "shopping my stash".  These kinds of posts like the "project 10 pan" etc, are many ideas I have in mind to do with my collection. I'll keep you updated on how I go with that.

I wanted to also update that I had received a new MacBook Pro for my birthday from my beautiful Mr. It was such a surprise and I couldn't believe he had gifted this to me. It is definitely something I have always wanted for such a long time — I had owned my old MacBook (the white one) since I was 18 — which is what my boyfriend had gifted me for my 18th birthday. It's basically his tradition to get me an Apple product every now and then for my birthday. He had gifted me my iMac for my 21st and he told me it was long due to upgrade to a new MacBook Pro. It is so nice to have a new laptop to work on, especially for travelling. I usually use my iPad Air with the bluetooth keyboard I have for it — however the iPad being more of a mobile base tech, there was many things I wasn't able to do on there compared to an actual laptop. I love bringing my MacBook around with me, I can't believe how beautiful the new models are and how fast they are too. I love my iMac but having a laptop I can bring with me anywhere is so good!

Do you remember when I set myself a few goals for this year? So far, I've been doing most of them pretty well. There is the "wearing false lashes at least once a week" goal that I am failing with — which is what I presumed I would have. I think I wear them more so every 2-3 weeks, I need to keep reminding myself to do it. I get so lazy and find it time consuming especially since I've been going more natural with my makeup these last few months — however it is a goal I really want to work on more. Goals I have been doing quite consistently — I've been walking my dogs a lot, blogging regularly and started filming, I started attending pilates and yoga class again just yesterday and will be signing up for a yearly pass, (thanks to my friend Evelyn for motivating me to go again) I do a bit of yoga and exercising at home too — but it felt so good to go to a class again, we've been planning our Europe trip (and saving hard for it too!) as well as savings for our house. It is a great feeling knowing that the goals I have set for myself are doable and I have been living up to it. I know all the other years I eventually forget about my goals.

Another goal I need to work on is attending more workshops/events. However being an introvert and home body, that doesn't happen on the regular. I do have quite a few workshops I want to book with my boyfriend and friends — building a terrarium class, pottery class and events held by Lush, Kikki.K, T2, Mecca, etc. At this moment, studying isn't really what's on my agenda. I did write I wanted to study a short course (mainly another language) but it isn't the cheapest of things to do. Although, it is still something I have on my list to mesh in with my work life eventually.

How are you going with your New Years resolutions/goals you've set for yourself?

The 7 Day Lipstick Challenge - Day 2

Welcome to, Day 2! I remember when I first discovered this shade. I was shopping at Mecca and the girl that I was speaking to had this lipstick on her lips. Of course, I had to ask her what she was wearing and she said it was Bobbi Brown Rich Lip Colour #35 Blazing Red  (RRP $44 AUD). When she showed me the tester and I swatched it, I was already preparing myself to not fall in love with it, you know that's a lie. It is such a vibrant and strong beautiful fire engine red. The name speaks for itself, it truly is a 'blazing red ' shade. It has a slight undertone of orange to it, which is what makes it so bright and stand out. I love how light weight it feels on the lips. The formula is extremely rich in pigment, smooth and has a creamy texture. It applies really well on the lips and has good longevity, although it can smear if you — kiss, eat, rub your lips, etc. I find applying it with one layer and afterwards using a dabbing motion makes it transfer on the lips perfectly.

I don't own many Bobbi Brown lipsticks, in my collection I have two (I think?). They are beautiful quality lipsticks and I do highly recommend them. I don't find it has any scent to the lipstick — which is a nice change from the overly powering scents some lipsticks can have. This isn't a shade I tend to go for often, even on nights out. Sometimes I hesitate to wear a shade like this if I am going out — mainly for dinner. As it is high maintenance and can smudge if you're not careful, due to it not being a full matte formula.

If I wear a lip liner, lip primer or blot the lipstick it has a better staying power. I did however, wear this lipstick all day and night (with the occasional touch ups), and it made me feel like a million dollars! It just adds that nice touch to your look — especially paired with a bold winged eyeliner. I received a few compliments on how beautiful the shade is. There's something real special about wearing a bold red lip that makes you feel quite lovely, and a wee bit fancy too. It fades after a few hours and leaves a nice stain on the lips. Now that I've tried the lipstick on its own, I want to try and wear this shade a lot more often, this time paired with a lip liner/primer so I feel a lot more confident in its longevity.

The 7 Day Lipstick Challenge - Day 1

The 7 day lipstick challenge is something I've been keen on trying out for quite some time. I'm not sure what the exact "rules" are, however this is my take on it. For any 7 days (doesn't have to be consecutive), I will be wearing a lipstick. From different brands to shades, I will write my thoughts on wearing them the entire day. The purpose of this challenge, for myself, is to keep the rotation of my lipsticks going and not just settling for the ones I gravitate to quite often. Whether it's a bold shade that I don't sport enough or a shade I haven't used in a while. In some ways, this is basically a shopping my stash — only focusing on lipstick.

For day 1, I decided to opt for the newest to my collection. Of course, I had to, it's so beautiful! But, don't worry this will be the only lipstick I'll be wearing that's 'new'. For my Myer One birthday voucher I was gifted $20 to spend, so I decided to purchase this Dior lipstick (RRP $52 AUD). What drew me to this was 1. The package, 2. The shade, and 3. The love at first swatch "moment". This is an extremely creamy and highly pigmented lipstick. It feels so soft on the lips and wears very comfortably. I fell head over heels for the shade #434 Brun Samarcande, which to me is the typical shade I always go for (nothing new here)!. A neutral rose, brown tone terracotta shade. It is super moisturising and has a decent amount of wear time for its consistency. The only down side to this, I find, is the scent. It is an awful "old lady scent". It's a scent I don't like, but can deal with however I don't understand why anyone would put that type of scent into any product.

My Easy Go-To Flawless Complexion

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you would know I have been meaning to upload a video for a long time now! I've made a few videos in the past, however I didn't uploaded them due to not being completely satisfied with the results, or never finished editing it. I wanted to film a video that I knew I would want to upload and finish, one that didn't overwhelm me in terms of editing, etc. I decided as my first video I would do my simple go-to flawless complexion. One that I like to do on days/mornings I am in a rush, whilst using minimal amounts of products. The main focus of this look is creating a dewy, lit within glow.

I applied only one layer of foundation as I usually go for a light to medium coverage. I still like to have a few imperfections showing through, as long as my complexion is even.

I was quite surprised how fast I was able to edit this video on iMovie, from adding captions to cut outs as well as the speed process. I was so pleased at how I managed to figure out how to edit this video. It didn't take very long for me to get the swing of things. Overall, this video took me less than 30 minutes to edit, which I am very happy about. Usually, if I have more time in the morning I would do a few touch ups and would perfect a few more areas of my face. Nonetheless, I am extremely happy with how it turned out.

This is the very first video I have filmed properly so it isn't the best, please be kind! I am extremely nervous to upload this. I hope you all enjoy watching it, and do let me know if you would like me to continue filming videos and if you have any request you'd like me to do. For my next video I want to incorporate talking as well as a more detailed tutorial and mixing in some lifestyle (makeup collection, etc).

Throughout the video you will see each product I use, however I have added it below as well as extra information for easier reference.
