The 7 Day Lipstick Challenge - Day 5

I've tried NYX products for quite a few years now and for a drugstore brand it is one that I really enjoy using — plus they're a cruelty free brand! The NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams isn't exactly a lipstick however for day 5, I wanted to incorporate it within my lipstick challenge as I have not worn it in so long. Think of it as a liquid lipstick! It is a beautiful mousse texture and feels great on the lips without any dryness when worn throughout the day. The matte lip creams have a beautiful strong pigment and smooth velvety formula. Out of all the shades I've tried, Stockholm (RRP $12.95 AUD) is definitely a favourite and the perfect nude shade for my lips. I have my eyes on the shades London and Abu Dhabi next!

I remember when I first picked up these matte lip creams they were a definite hit for quite some time but as time went by, I did eventually push them to the back of my drawers and soon forgotten about it. Recently these matte lip creams have been all the attention and lots of YouTubers are talking about them, which lead me to bring it back out again.

Applying one layer evenly on the lips is the perfect amount, with the occasional touch ups throughout the day. I've found applying more than one layer at once can make the formula seperate and form cracks on the lips. When I did apply more than one layer of the lip cream it would flake off a lot faster, as opposed to applying just one layer, it adhered to the lips well and seemed to last a decent amount of time (approximately a few hours).

If you're not a fan of scents, these lip creams do have a vanilla/cupcake scent which I don't mind and haven't found it to linger once on the lips. It comes with a doe foot applicator that distributes a good amount of product. Although the longevity isn't the longest, for the amount it retails for it is a really great product. To me, the matte lip creams are an easy and simple concept! It is what you want to use when you don't want to faff around with a typical lipstick.

6 Steps To Perfect Skin With Dermalogica

If you've ever thought of trying out a new skincare to add to your regime or you've actually just been curious to try Dermalogica, this post is for you. I will be listing out all cult products I own and have trialled. I've always seen Dermalogica, heard about it and never thought much to try their products — mainly because I wasn't sure what to try, or where to start. It's important and good to have a better insight and knowledge on what the brand offers and the range they stock. From my understanding and views, Dermalogica is a brand that strives for providing products with beautiful ingredients as well as results.

I know I was kicking myself for the longest time for not trying out Dermalogica early! From that statement you can tell it has worked wonders for my skin, and I am so glad I have it as part of my regime. I love that they cater to all skin types, there will always be something for you within each of their selections. I even got my boyfriend into using some of the products and he has seen results and it is part of his regime too. His favourite is the Daily Microfoliant!

In today's post I will be talking you through 6 different steps towards achieving the perfect skin and base with these Dermalogica staples.

STEP 1 - *Soothing Eye Make-up Remover

This product is what everyone has basically wished for in an eye makeup remover. An eye makeup remover that caters to removing stubborn mascara and to dissolve all traces of eye and lip makeup, all while strengthening and conditioning your lashes? YES PLEASE! This is the all rounder product, of course you can use it to remove your eye/lip makeup, however I also like to use it even in the morning to do as it claims, strengthen and condition my lashes as it is infused with Silk Amino Acids. Sometimes in the mornings, my eyes need a good pamper. We always think about giving love and care to our face but we tend to forget our eye area needs a bit of love too.
I use a cotton pad with the eye makeup remover, I let it sit on top of my eye area and press gently to penetrate the product for around 20 seconds. Since doing this almost each morning, I have noticed my lashes are a lot more vibrant and strong. They don't fall out as much as they use to and I can see they have thickened a lot too. This could also be from other lash products I've used. But, I have found doing this step has played a large part to that.
In terms of removing my eye/lip makeup it performs very well, it doesn't sting or irritate my eyes and I find it removes most makeup quite thoroughly.

STEP 2 - *Precleanse

This is fairly new to me, however, I don't think it requires much use to determine whether it works well for me or not. Oil cleansers, I have tried and used many, I always enjoy majority of them and this one is no exception. I love the types of oil cleansers that turn into a milky emulsion texture once applied with a little bit of water — this does just that! It smells and feels so beautiful massaged into the skin.
For the rest of my makeup removal or to prep my face, this is the key element to use. It removes traces of excess sebum, makeup, dirt as well as environment pollutants that build up on your skin either throughout the day or night. I love how hydrating and soft this makes my skin feel after each use. It contains an array of beautiful oil extracts from Borage Seed, Kukui, Apricot oil as well as Rice Bran and Vitamin E oils. I use this morning or night for all purposes.

STEP 3 - *Daily Microfoliant

What I love most about this daily gentle exfoliant is how unique it is. It is an exfoliating powder that you activate with water. You pour a coin size amount on the palm of your hands with a few drops of water to turn it into a paste. It feels so finely milled on your skin and because it contains chemical exfoliants you don't need to worry about it feeling scratchy or irritating your skin.
Not only does it contain many amazing ingredients that I always look out for in all skincare products, it brings you noticeable results. Take my boyfriend as an example, he has acne prone oily skin (I have dry combination to normal skin). He likes to use this daily to remove all excess sebum as well as treating his blemishes with the Salicylic Acid within it. He is quite picky when it comes to skincare products as his face is very thick in texture and not many products work well on him. He prefers cosmeceutical products that contain chemical exfoliants and ingredients, so this is a gem in his eyes.
For myself, on days where my skin is having a spotty day or is in need of a major pick me up I gravitate to this. It calms down any active pimples with the soothing blend of Green Tea, Ginkgo and Colloidal Oatmeal, as well as removing dead skin cells that have built up around my skin with Rice Enzymes. I can see why this is their best seller!

STEP 4 - *Charcoal Rescue Masque

Charcoal is known to draw out impurities and detox your skin from congestion. Because I have dry combination skin I don't use this masque all over my face, instead only where I find I need it most — the T-zone area. I especially love using this around my nose and chin as I find it really helps control the oil and build up of dirt trapped within my pores. This step is only done once a week. With all Dermalogica products, they always contain extra amazing ingredients for added benefits. Ingredients such as Volcanic Ash, Sea Silt, Bamboo Extract, Niacinamide, Chilean Wild Mint and Alpha Hydroxy Acids is what makes this your go to treatment for detoxified and brightened skin.
The whole kit and caboodle if you ask me!

STEP 5 - *Solar Defense Booster SPF 50

Sunscreen is a must have within anyone's regime. I can't go a day without putting a good SPF on my face, before leaving the house or applying my makeup. Especially with the harsh UV rays within Australia, there's no risk you want to take not wearing any. These days an SPF 50 broad spectrum is crucial for our environment. As I am fast running low on my other sunscreens, it feels really nice to try out a new one!
It goes without saying, again, this is more than just a sunscreen, it contains extra ingredients of Green Tea and Grape Seed extracts and Antioxidant Vitamin C. What I enjoy most about using this SPF is how quickly it sinks into the skin without a chalky or oily feeling and doesn't disturb the application of your makeup whatsoever.

STEP 6 - *Hydrablur Primer

I'm all for primers, many people don't understand the reasoning behind using one. Using a primer not only helps with the longevity and application of your base and makeup, but nowadays most primers  have extra benefits entwined within it. Take the Hydrablur Primer for instance, this primer is your all in one hydrating and pore minimiser.
It helps with oil control as well as reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Most "pore filling" primers can block your pores or feel quite silicone like, however the Hydrablur feels lightweight and very hydrating as it contains Abyssinian Oil. It glides onto the skin smoothly and helps provide a perfect base for your foundation to adhere to.
The sleek thin packaging makes for great travelling and it also comes with a tube wringer to get every part of the product out!

Aroha Antipodes

Antipodes is a brand I've grown to love and really enjoy. I've used many of their skincare products within my skincare regime, so I know this is a brand of great quality and ingredients. However, little did I know, Antipodes has a small makeup line which I was kindly sent a few products to try from their Aroha Lipstick line. I was really intrigued by the smooth sleek black matte packaging of the lipsticks and I really enjoy the unique names of each lipstick too. The definition of "Aroha" is Maori New Zealand  which means "love" and "affection".

The Aroha lipsticks apply very creamy with a good amount of pigment. The shade range is stunning and consists of shades that can suit many skin tones. I find the formula to be very hydrating and feels lovely on the lips once applied. The longevity depends on the shade itself. For natural shades such as the *Dusky Sound Pink, it wears nicely throughout the day with the occasional touch ups. As it is a rose pink shade it fades evenly on your lips giving you a soft rose tint. For a bold shade *Hungry Like The Wolf is a blood red, it has a longer staying power throughout the day with a few touch ups it wears really nicely and doesn't bleed around the lip line. It settles evenly around the lips and dries semi-matte all while giving a nice stain and feeling quite hydrating.

Among the Antipodes range is the *Kiwi Seed Oil Lip Conditioner, that is also housed in a nice sleek black matte packing in a form of a lipstick bullet. I've tried their lip balm in the past and I much prefer this luxe style they have come out with. I find it is a lot more enjoyable to apply with the lipstick shape bullet rather than your standard lip balm packaging. The lip conditioner conditions cracked and dry lips with ease and feels light weight and smoothing when applied.

I really enjoy all these lip products and would love to try out more shades from their lipstick range. I have my eyes on the shade Boom Rock Bronze, which is definitely my type of shade!

Swatched (L-R)  Antipodes Dusky Sound Pink Lipstick and Antipodes Hungry Like The Wolf lipstick.

Have you heard or tried any of the Aroha lipsticks from Antipodes before?

Antipodes is available at Priceline Pharmacy and David Jones.

New Products I'm Excited About #2

It's that time again where I put together a few new items I am most excited about! My lovely friend Lisa on her recent trips to Sydney and Singapore brought back some goodies for me. I always have a list of things I want to pick up while she is on her travels, so basically it is as if I am shopping with her while she is there. We always are in contact through every kind of social media, from iMessage to Snapchat. It's so nice to be able to have pictures or mini clips sent to you so you have an idea of what you're getting. Especially since I can't see it in person, so Lisa was very helpful in terms of helping me tick of my shopping list. Many places I always have my eyes on is Muji and Sephora! Mainly because we don't have those stores here in Perth. I have also been doing a little bit of shopping myself with a few little treats that have been collective throughout the past month. I have a lot more products I would love to mention, however I didn't want to make this post too long, so I will definitely save them for another time.

*Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Lash Extending Treatment Mascara
I was sent this beautiful mascara recently and as you know I am always on the hunt for the perfect mascara. I have found a few mascara's I really enjoy however there is always a flaw within each one. I wonder the day they will create the ultimate mascara. As for this Elizabeth Arden mascara, it is one of their most recent launches and although I haven't tried much from their range before I was extremely intrigued by the concept of this mascara. It helps condition your lashes with lash growth treatments such as Vitamins A, C and E and Ceramide's 1, 3 and 6. It is quite rare to find a mascara that helps treat your lashes, most of the time the ones that do "treat" your lashes don't perform well as a mascara.
All in all, since using this mascara a few times I can definitely say it is quite a show stopper. I have noticed it definitely conditions my eyelashes as each time I use it my lashes feel thick and strong, (I will keep using it to see how it performs with lash growth). It works amazingly as a mascara, it gives the perfect amount of volume and length all while making the lashes look naturally long without becoming clumpy each application. I can apply many coats and it continues to apply really nicely. Out of all the mascara's I've used it definitely gives the most extent for lengthening. The only thing is, it is not waterproof therefore tears and sweat will smear your mascara  — which is basically a given. Keep posted, I will be trialling this mascara further for my final verdict!

Fairy Drops Mascara
Another mascara I am currently testing out is the Fairy Drops mascara. Oh my, this has been such a difficult product to track down. I believe it was since I was 19 that I have been wanting to try this mascara (many years). So, you can imagine my excitement when I finally tracked it down at one of my favourite local Japanese store. I've heard all the raves about this mascara and have been so keen to try it. The wand with the three ball applicator looks so interesting and the formula sounds very promising.
Since using it I have found it really is exactly all that it is said to be. It contains small fibres that grasp onto each individual lash and it lengthens and gives amazing volume. It is waterproof, extremely waterproof which has its pros and cons. A plus is that is holds a curl like never before, not many mascara's (even most waterproof) hold a curl to my lashes all day/night, but this one definitely does. A negative to this super waterproof mascara is that is it quite hard to remove, even with balm cleansers, it takes a bit of extra work to fully remove it — so if you're willing to spend extra time with your makeup removal, this is definitely worth it!

NARS Pure Matte Lipstick - Tonkin
I have had this NARS lipstick on my wish list for such a long time. Each time I decide to purchase it, it is always out of stock. Finally I stumbled by it on my recent shopping trips and took advantage of it being in stock again. Since there were a few in stock, I thought I would also pick one up for Lisa as part of her birthday present. Tonkin is a really beautiful shade, very much typical to the shades I always gravitate towards, however I believe each brown/rose/cinnamon shade has a slight difference between each one (yes, don't deny it). I love the formula to the NARS Pure Matte Lipsticks, I own 5 in my collection and find they have such a beautiful texture and the packaging is so sleek and petite.
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (Mini)- Vanilla
When Lisa was in Singapore she showed me a photo of these NARS miniature sizes they had in their Sephora store. I was so excited as I really needed the shade Vanilla for the Radiant Creamy Concealer. It is quite small and contains 1.4ml (for $18) which is nothing compared to the full size, however I wasn't up for forking out $46 for the full size here in Australia. I already have a few shades of Custard within my collection however I needed a lighter shade as the colder season is upon us and I am definitely losing my tan. How cute is the mini size though? I think it is a great alternative if you want to test out the product before investing in the full size too. I'm not sure what other products they do in mini, but the concealer is definitely a new one to me.
Muji Aroma Diffuser (Small)
Another item that has been on my wish list for a while is the Muji Aroma Diffuser. I first stumbled by these while I was in Melbourne last year and I always wanted to pick it up. At the time I had no more room in my luggage for it, so of course it went straight to my wish list. While Lisa was in Sydney a few months back she picked this up for me (best shopping buddy, honestly). It is quite a pricey product, it retails for $90 here in Australia, but I think it is most definitely worth it.
I haven't stopped using this since I got it. I could justify getting it for the following reasons: it is a safer alternative to having a candle, in the long run I save more rather than continuing to purchase different candles (although, I will always continue buying candles) by using different essential oil scents, and it works as a night light and aroma diffuser in one. I love the dry cool mist is sprays out, it fills the room with beautiful aromas and makes for a great item to use to relax before going to bed.

I'm quite picky when it comes to scents. I don't want anything too sweet or fruity. It needs balance. I wanted scents I can use for unwinding and relaxation purposes, so I went for these scents. I love fresh and aromatherapy/earthy scents. I will be picking up more scents on my next holiday! (Lisa, if you need anything write down a list, hehe.)

Muji Blend Essential Oil —
Clear 10ml and 30ml - Peppermint, Eucalyptus, Lemon, Lavender, Horifu
Lemongrass 10ml - Cymbopogon Citratus Grass
Relax Time 10ml - Lavender, Sweet Orange, Pericarp, Geranium (Flowers and Leaves), Horowood

Current Favourites #4

The last time I did my "Current Favourites" was last year in November, so it is long due I updated and did my next one. I need to try to make this a regular thing to update, since I haven't as much. Although as I have mentioned before I like to do it every now and then, therefore I can properly show you what I am currently enjoying and it won't be repetitive. I really enjoy putting together these types of posts, mainly because it gives me a moment to gather up all items I know I have been reaching for on the regular and it's quite satisfying to see which ones make it to the final post. For easier reading I decided to break it up into skincare and makeup, unlike my previous posts where I gathered them all together.

Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel ⎯ I've used this for a decent amount of time now, it really is a beautiful product and each time I use it, it feels so beautiful on the skin. I find it is really gentle and it feels so soothing when I massage it on my face. I like to use it day or night, just depends on what I reach for next. It is a luxury product so I do use it very sparingly. It removes makeup really well, although I do use a micellar water prior to using the cleansing gel. I don't use it just to remove makeup, some mornings or nights I like to use this to remove build up from the night/day. It contains Vitamins A, C & E, Omega 6, Pumpkin Enzymes, and many more lovely ingredients.
*Mieux Derma Grain & Grit Gentle Cleansing Exfoliant ⎯ When I received this cleansing in my first Maslow & Co box (Australian Edition), it was love at first use. I find using it especially in the morning really wakes up my skin. It comes out of the tube with a beautiful bright mint green shade and has a nice minty scent with an extremely refreshing feeling, leaving your skin nicely exfoliated and clean. I find on days when my skin needs a good pick me up, I reach for this for a nice skin pamper. It contains Crushed Limestone, Tea Tree and Peppermint.

*Uriage Depiderm Intensive Depigmenting Cream ⎯ As you know I have pigmentation and dark spots from sun damage or pimples. I've found using this each night for the last few months has lighten my dark spots all while smoothing out the texture of my skin as well. I have freckles on my cheeks and although they're naturally there, they too have brighten up a lot. It contains Vitamin C, AHA-BHA and Licorice Root Extracts.

*Linden Leaves Intensive Repair Eye Cream ⎯ This is another product from Maslow & Co box (New Zealand Edition), although fairly new to my regime, I have used it for a few weeks now and really enjoy it. I can't say just yet if it has make a big impact in terms of change, however I do find it leaves a nice smooth and tightening feeling around the eyes. It contains amazing ingredients such as Organic White Tea and Melon Extract. I love the way it is packaged in secured bottle with an easy to control pump.

*Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder in #53 ⎯ I've always been quite skeptical of drugstore makeup. There isn't much I own within my collection. However since finding a few great quality drugstore makeup, there are the occasional one or few products I am really enjoying. I never thought much about this powder, or to even try it, so when I was sent this and I gave it a try, I was so intrigued. It is absolutely beautiful and so smooth and velvet-y on the skin. If anything, it makes my makeup look extra smooth and flawless once applied. I still need to change to the shade #52 as the current shade I'm using is slightly getting too dark for me as I keep getting paler during this cold season. I highly recommend this powder and I will definitely be repurchasing it again, after I finish with this one.
Josie Maran Argan Enlightenment Illuminizer ⎯ I received this deluxe size sample in my Mecca Beauty Loop Level 3 box recently and I've really enjoyed it. I've worked with Josie Maran products in the past at work and I have always enjoyed the aesthetic nature to her makeup line. I find this illuminator to be absolutely stunning on the skin, it isn't too gold or too peachy but somewhere in between. It gives a nice glow to the skin with a very natural look. I love the size to this bottle as well, it has a decent amount in it and I know it will last me a while!
Tom Ford Eye Color Quad in #03 Cocoa Mirage ⎯ I think you wouldn't be surprised that this has made it to my current favourites. I can't stop wearing this palette, when I wear eyeshadow this is one of my most reach for. Mainly because it is so versatile all while so simple looking as well. I adore the pigmentation and texture to Tom Ford eyeshadows. They're stunning and apply so nicely on the eyes. The shades within this palette are all very wearable and you can create many looks with this, even if the shades look quite simple.
Tom Ford Lip Color in #41 Warm Sable ⎯ Again, another product from Tom Ford I can''t keep my hands off. If I could, I would own so many more lipstick shades from Tom Ford. There is definitely something unique to his entire line that sets it seperate from the rest (besides the price tag). I love the formula to these lip colours, they contain many extracts and oils making it ultra-creamy and have extreme pigments. The texture is exactly what you want applied to your lips, it is long lasting and even the packaging itself is so heavy and luxurious. I adore the uniqueness of this shade Warm Sable, is it one that I've never seen before. It has a burnt tone to it which really draws me to this shade each time.
NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Walkyrie ⎯ You know these NARS lip pencils are my absolute favourite and I have definitely grown my collection with these. They are one of my favourite formula in terms of matte finishes. I love this shade Walkyrie, it is so flattering on the lips and really ties any look together. It is described as a burnt coral red, which in my opinion is quite accurate. It definitely has a maroon tone to it as well. I love reaching for this shade especially when I want a bold lip that is wearable with any look or occasion.
*Rimmel Exaggerate Full Colour Lip Liner in #018 Addiction ⎯ Since trying these lip liners from Rimmel they have definitely become a favourite. They are extremely pigmented and apply really beautifully, however I do find because they are very creamy you can go through each liner very fast, even though it does have a decent amount of product in each liner. I actually enjoy that, and how it doesn't tug at your lips and leave them feeling dry. The shade Addiction is your typical 90's brown nude and of course I am all for that. It pairs nicely with a similar shade lipstick or on its own. I hope they release more shades within their collection. So far I have shades: Addition, East End Snob and Under My Spell, which are all absolutely gorgeous. I highly recommend these lip liners if you're looking for a good and cheaper alternative. They're very comparable to the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat pencils in terms of longevity and texture.

Are any of these products in your favourites as well? What are your current favourites?

What I Got For My Birthday

This has been such an overdue post I've been meaning to work on! I had such an amazing birthday this year, each year is always a quiet one, but this year felt extra special for many reasons. Mainly because I felt and received so much love from all my friends and family and having them all spoil and spend my special day with me meant so much to me. I haven't had a party or celebrated much of my birthdays since my 21st. I just grew out of having parties, and basically becoming a grandma/homebody if you'd like to call it that  I'm just happy doing something small with the people that are close to me.

I'm not going to lie, turning 26 came to a shock to me, I still feel like I am 19. I'm not afraid of growing older, I'm more so very aware of how fast these years are flying by and it is quite scary. I was so spoilt by everyone this year, I honestly don't have the words on how grateful I was for all the beautiful gifts I had received. Although my birthday was about 2 months ago (11th of March) it definitely went by so fast. I like to think my birthday lasts for the whole month of March so I make the most of that whole month — surely, I am not the only one who does this during their birthday month, right?

From my beautiful boyfriend (Amon), he had gifted me many of my wish list items I've been wanting for so long. Every few years when it comes to my birthday (I've mentioned this before in previous posts) he likes to surprise me with a new Apple product. During our early teens he use to buy me an iPod (those days of the shuffle, nano, etc). For my 18th he gifted me a white MacBook, for my 21st he gifted me an iMac and my 26th a new MacBook Pro to add to my Apple family. I was thinking of doing a tech type of post, if you would like to see all the gadgets and equipment technology I use, let me know!

I have been in need of a new laptop for quite some time now (since 2008), for a while I was using my iPad air as a substitute laptop. I had bought a bluetooth keyboard that connect with it from Logitech and it worked well for bringing with me on my travels when I needed to get work done. However, it did come to a point where I was very limited in terms of what I could and access as it wasn't an actual computer. I still enjoy using my iPad, but for blogging on-the-go it is very limited as I had to keep doing most of my work on the iMac and make sure I had my USB or hardrive backed up before leaving anywhere. I am so in love with this MacBook Pro, from the thin body, the size of the 15-inch to the beautiful retina display. It is super fast and I've been using it non-stop ever since he had gifted it to me. He told me that he wanted to get me a new gadget for my new job and where I could work on it from anywhere and bring my work with me. I am forever grateful, he always spoils me with so many beautiful things.

As if that wasn't enough, he had extra gifts for me, which he had actually gifted me before he had surprised me with the MacBook Pro. It was such a beautiful night, I remember he had come home from work and I hadn't seen him much that whole week because he had so many long shifts. He came home and quickly went into the front room and started putting together my gift — he told me I wasn't allowed to go near there until he was finished, so I went and did my own thing. When he was finished he went and hid all my presents around our room while I was in the shower and when I came back out he told me to go look for each present.

The first one I found was the Diptyque Candle in the scent Feu De Bois Gris in the large size, after a while of looking I couldn't find anything else. He had hid them so well so he passed the next presents to me which was the Byredo Perfume in Gypsy Water and the NARS Velvet Lip Pencil in Bettina. Of course, he had access to my Wunderlist and knew exactly what I had on my wish list. I can't believe he surprised me with all these beautiful items, it was way too much and I was only turning 26 as well, he is seriously insane, and I love him so much. We went on a date night for my birthday and spent the night catching up and doing what we love most. He had also surprised me with the cutest Tea Pot cake which I posted on Instagram here.

My amazing sister (Linda) surprised me when I went over to her place to visit the day before my birthday. She gifted me this Tiffany & Co Horseshoe Pendant Necklace she had picked up for me. (She also has access to my wish list and of course chose to get me this.) She told me it was very fitting for me as I am the year of horse in my Chinese star sign. I think this necklace is absolutely stunning and I knew I wanted this as soon as I had spotted it online beginning of this year. Tiffany & Co is one of my favourite jewellery brands, I love the aesthetic of it and how minimal and dainty their jewellery is. I will treasure this necklace forever.

On the night of my birthday my sister had also surprised me with these White Leather Converse Sneakers. It wasn't on my wish list, but she knew it was something I've had my eyes on for a while. I love how these shoes go with almost everything, they are so comfy and sleek looking. For once I have a pair of Converse that my sister won't knick off me, every pair I've owned from Chucks to the originals she has stolen from me after I wore it a few times. She told me it was time she had gifted me back a pair that she "won't" take — she is so cute. I have almost worn these Converse everyday and they are my definite go-to shoe at the moment. I love the white leather so much!

From my gorgeous little niece (Sutiida) she had written and made me a birthday card (in the first picture) and also gifted me some sea shells she picked up while on her excursion with her school at Cottesloe Beach. She placed them in an old Pandora ring box I gave her a while ago and I honestly was left speechless. She is the most sweet and thoughtful little girl, I love her attention to detail and how much she thought of me when she put these beautiful pieces together. It's amazing how children think and what a wide imagination they have, I miss having that imagination. As an adult we forget to cherish the little things in life, although we tend to remind ourselves the main people who can show us this is children.

Mum and Dad had gifted me a Myer Gift Card, and a nice little note on a Chinese Li Xi envelope. I definitely put it to good use and picked up a few makeup items. I still have a bit of money left on my gift card, which I am still deciding what else I should get. Maybe some restock items, even though that's never as exciting as ticking off the wish list. I was actually really happy Mum and Dad did this as most of the years they just gave me actual money or sometimes nothing besides saying "Happy Birthday" to me (which I am still very grateful of). But, I think it is the fact they went out to get me an actual gift card from Myer and wrote a note that made it feel so special with that extra touch to it. Of course, it was Mum who went out and bought it and Dad just added his name to it. Let's be real here, I have Asian parents and they put little to nothing effort when it comes to these things, so this is as good as it gets, haha. Mum and Dad also surprised me with another lovely birthday cake on the day of our family BBQ to celebrate my birthday — (so, yes I did have two birthday cakes this year, yay).

One of my closest friends (Lisa) had surprised me with two beautiful presents of which I know she put a lot of thought into (like all the presents she surprises me with). We went out for brunch that morning and she had taken me to May Street Larder cafe where we spent the morning catching up and chatting our little heads off as we always do. She gave me my presents and I was so surprised and so in love! She gifted me a Diptyque Solid Perfume in the scent Don Son —which I had smelt before and it is absolutely stunning. I gifted Lisa a Diptyque Solid Perfume in Philosykos as part of her Christmas present in 2015, as I knew she really liked that scent when she smelt my Philosykos perfume. I've never owned the solid perfumes before, and after I gifted it to her I knew I wanted one as well! I didn't even know the scent Don Son was in solid form, so when she surprised me with it I was over the moon.

She also gifted me this stunning Chanel Compact Mirror, she didn't know it was something I was actually hunting for, while I was in Melbourne last year. I didn't end up getting it for myself, so when she had bought it for me I was so happy. I swear, our brains are in sync and sometimes we think very a-like! There have been way too many times where we've had coincidental moments together, i.e., wearing similar outfits on our dates and exact same thoughts! I love that I can put these two items in my bag and take it everywhere with me. The compact mirror has come very handy for me when I am out, it has a magnified side and a normal mirror side.

Last but not least my lovely friend Evelyn joined me to go to Pilates class and when she took me home she gifted me my birthday present. She is the sweetest girl, she gifted me a T2 Clear Glass Tea Cup and Saucer and a Lush Cup O' Coffee Face/Body Mask. She told me she knew I had a clear tea pot and that this teacup and saucer would go perfectly with it. I love the minimal look to it and how everything is just glass, definitely knows my style! I love Lush — I think anyone who knows me knows I adore that store. I actually had been wanting to try the Cup O' Coffee mask since I saw it launch, I've used it several times now and can definitely say I love it and it has made my skin feel so refreshed and detoxed each time I use it.

Thank you so much to everyone who wished me a happy birthday and all the lovely and kind things everyone in my life had done for me to make my day. As each birthday year goes by I always feel so privileged to have such amazing people in my life. I love that everyone close to me makes effort to spend time with me and share their love on my birthday — just to make my day that extra bit special.

What Shade Are You?

I was inspired to do this post from Lily Pebbles — she had posted a while ago a list of all the shades she was in each base product within her collection. I find these types of posts are really helpful because I am always constantly looking up shades online and especially if I know I am similar shade to someone else, this can help a lot to know which shade to get in a particular product. I know for me, Hello October (Suzie) is very similar shading to me, so I always go to her for reference. Sometimes you may be curious what shade someone is, this too can be useful for that.

Throughout summer and winter my skin shade changes and I am usually in between shades. I know I am due for an update with a few brands in terms of colour matching — especially at MAC. The last time I was coloured match was in my teens, and I was a lot more tanned back then due to being the biggest beach bum during those days. I am a lot more paler and I have always went with the shade NC30 I was match to then, but I know that shade doesn't always work for me especially during winter. Therefore I just assume I would be a few shades lighter — NC20-25, which has worked fine as of late. But, I do want to make sure so a colour match is due soon.

My collection has changed rapidly throughout the years, I have tried and owned many different base products. Since these last few years I have detoxed and narrowed down which products I use regularly on rotation and which product I don't (which I had gifted or binned). The listing below are products currently within my collection or products I have used before. I have quite a few bases I have on my wish list once I have finished the current bases within my collection. Some of these are the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation (though, I am in a strut of what shade to get), Burberry BB Cream OR Chanel CC Cream, Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint and much more (the list pretty much never ends).
