Let's Catch Up! #5

I usually do these types of post every two months or so, although I did post one almost exactly a month ago, I wanted to do another catch up. It seems like these are the types of posts most people really enjoy reading. I know I really enjoy reading these types of post especially from a few of my favourite blogs. In today's post, I want to talk about things that have been lingering on my mind as well as things that have been motivating me throughout the month of August, oh and a few recent updates.

First thing I wanted to chat about is Podcasts. How on earth did it take me so long to even get into listening to Podcasts? I've always known about, and I've always been constantly reminded to listen to so many, but for some reason it was always pushed down on my to-do list. But, now I have finally taken myself out of that rut and decided to start listening to the playlist I have. I should also mention that the main person who influenced me into these Podcasts is my co-worker Jessica (Co-founder of Maslow & Co.) She has always recommended so many awesome Podcasts for me to tune into. So, thank you Jess for that! I listen to Triple J's Hack series on the radio all the time, which I always look forward to, but the Podcasts app is new to me.

The very first Podcast I listened to was on Monday, while I was getting ready to run some errands. It's true — the mornings or even driving is the best time to listen to these Podcasts. So far the main Podcast channel I've been listening to is Monocycle with Leandra Medine from Man Repeller. I love it, the way she talks and her views and thoughts are exactly in line with my own. It's so nice to be able to relate to the topics she talks about. I think for myself working within the beauty office industry and constantly having a creative mind flow, listening to someone talk about these topics or everyday life of an Editor, etc, is really fulfilling. Especially knowing that I am not the only person thinking or feeling these certain things. The other reason I really enjoy listening to Leandra is her quirky and aesthetic nature to her views, she's such a chirpy and energy-filled human and I think that really draws me into everything she says.

Episodes I've listened to:
Ep 31: Let Loose, Dispatch 3
Ep 32: The Editorial Process
Ep 34: Endless Summer
Ep 35: Learning to be Content As Your Own Boss
"Just appreciate that when you hit daylight the sun hits your face the same way that it hits everyone else's face." — I love this quote she mentioned in episode 31: Let Loose, Dispatch 3. It's a mind opener and it's funny that we forget about these little things. This is one of my favourite episodes because basically everything she says is exactly how I feel from day-to-day. I highly recommend you listen to her podcasts if you are looking for a new channel to tune into, she is amazing.

Other Podcast channels I have on my "to listen list" are The Broad Experience and Mamamia Out Loud (also recommended from Jess). I'll keep you posted on my thoughts once I've listened to them. Do you have any recommendations of your favourite Podcasts? I'd love to add more to my list. I'm definitely kicking myself for not listening to them earlier, it's really therapeutic and soothing for my mind, if you feel like you need motivation or even inspiration definitely listen to some Podcasts. I'm always a visual person, but sometimes just listening to words with no pictures to view is really good too. I always think I need something visual to focus on, but it's much like reading a book, you can visualise images as words are being read/said.

In other news, our customised bed arrived a few weeks ago. Let me just tell you, I have not had a more better sleep ever since this baby arrived. A well-made bed frame really does make all the difference. Before we had a metal frame from Ikea and it would squeak and became wobbly after several times it was unassembled and reassembled over and over each time we moved houses. And sleeping on our beautiful expensive mattress on the floor definitely doesn't cut it. Now we have this stunning bed frame and it is solid as f*ck, I am one happy gal. Did I mention that we got drawers added into the sides of the bed frame? It is such a nice touch and my organisation has never been better thanks to this nifty feature.

I'm currently in the works of changing up my blog, only just a few little changes. If you haven't noticed yet, I've changed the font. I feel like this type of font is a lot easier to read and more appealing to my theme. I'm also working alongside a friend to do a new header, I won't mention too much yet as I am yet to meet up with her for our next coffee date but Alexis from Amgoorie Collective is a beautiful and talented freelance designer and I absolutely adore her work. If you haven't checked out her site, you need to! She is all about that minimal approach which I just live and breathe! I am so excited to see what she comes up with!

As you also know, I've been shopping around for new nibs for my calligraphy pen (I even bought a new holder). I love trying out different nibs and practising my calligraphy, though I am no master at it I really like how it makes me feel. It is such a relaxing and rewarding hobby. I want to also try out watercolouring as well, there's something about it that I find so beautifully pleasing, I could look through instagram of all the artwork for hours.
